Pyongyang is very overcrowded

Pyongyang, the capital city of North Korea, is home to nearly 3 million people. Compared with the populations of major cities in the United States, it is comparable to Houston, Texas, putting it in the top four position of the most populated urban areas. An estimated 59 percent of the population works, and the streets are full of high-rise buildings. With power cuts so common, elevators often don’t work, and people have to climb up and down up to 40 stories at a time.
